  • Bad Attic Ventilation Can Cut Your Roof’s Life Short

    Ventilation

Georgia attics get brutal in late summer, and that heat doesn’t just sit up there — it works down into your shingles from underneath. An attic that isn’t venting right bakes your roof from both sides at once, and you’ll see it as shingles aging early, curling, and granules washing off years before they should.

Good ventilation is simple in concept: cool air comes in low at the soffits, hot air goes out high at the ridge. Most attics we inspect have one side blocked — insulation stuffed over the soffit vents, or a ridge vent that was never sized right for the space. It matters for your wallet too, since a lot of shingle manufacturer warranties actually require proper ventilation to stay valid.

If your upstairs rooms run hot even with the AC cranked, or the attic smells musty, get your ventilation checked before you replace anything.
