A routine gutter cleaning on a nine-year-old roof turned up a few small issues before they became leaks — here’s what we found and fixed along the way.
What We Found (and Fixed)
Every gutter cleaning is also a chance to actually look at the roof, not just clear the gutters and leave. Here’s what came up on this one.
Gutter packed with leaves and debris before cleaning
Debris built up along another section of the roofline
No gutter flashing (drip edge) here — if a gutter backs up, heavy rain can wash back under the roofline and into the house
Exposed nail head, sealed on the spot to stop a future leak
