  • Pine Straw and Leaves Are Quietly Wearing Out Your Roof

    Maintenance

Every fall we get calls about “mystery leaks” that turn out to be pine straw. Metro Atlanta homes sit under a lot of pines and hardwoods, and most folks think leaf buildup is just a gutter problem. It’s not.

When straw and leaves pile up in your valleys and low-slope areas, they hold moisture right against the shingles instead of letting water run off. That constant dampness eats through granules faster, invites moss and algae, and can rot the decking underneath long before you ever see a stain on your ceiling.

Don’t just blow leaves off the roof peak — get up there (or call us) a couple times a year and clear the valleys and flat spots by hand.
