  • Why Your Insurance Might Still Owe You a Second Check

    Insurance Tips

Here’s something a lot of Georgia homeowners never learn until it’s too late: if your insurance company cut you a check based on the depreciated value of your roof instead of full replacement cost, you might be owed a second check.

That’s called recoverable depreciation. Most policies hold that money back until the work is actually finished — then you have to request it yourself, usually within 180 days of your first check. Insurance isn’t going to call and remind you.

Miss that request window and that second check can disappear for good, even though it was always yours.

We walk every insurance client through this on their claim so nothing gets left on the table. If you’re not sure whether your policy has recoverable depreciation sitting unclaimed, send us your paperwork and we’ll take a look.
